“The hospital can be a stressful and overwhelming environment. Having the items from Stitchin' for Kids makes a huge impact. Not only do these items help normalize the environment, they provide immense joy. Many of these children have never had the opportunity to receive something that has taken so much love and care to put together. The children feel the love of the community. They truly are special gifts.”

“The patients at UCSF Benioff Childrens Hospital Oakland have been very lucky to benefit from the amazing dedication, creativity and generosity of the women at Stitchin' for Kids over the past several years. Twice a year, we receive an amazing donation that includes about 8 Corolle dolls that each come with a box of beautiful handmade outfits and other accessories for each doll. The Child Life staff distributes these dolls to patients who have particularly challenging situations or hardships in an effort to allow the patients opportunities for much needed play and fun in the hospital setting.  To be able to give one of these lovely dolls together with what feels like a treasure chest of outfits is very special and has brought great joy to so many of our patients.  The parents are extremely moved by the donation and can hardly believe that their child will actually be able to keep the doll and all of the clothes that come along with it.  Stitchin' for Kids also donates many other handmade items that are very special and very well suited to the needs and interests of our patients including handmade quilts, matchbox cars that come with adorable car carriers, snakes, dinosaurs, hats, fleece blankets and more.  Really, there is always something for boys and girls of all ages. The many hours of work that it takes to put together these donations is phenomenal.  Every detail is so well thought out and the women are always coming up with new ideas.  As a Child Life Specialist, I am so proud, honored and gratified to be able to share and give these beautiful works of art to our very precious patients.  Hospitalization represents a time of crisis in the young lives of our patients and it is wonderful to be able to alleviate some of the loneliness, fear, boredom and pain that they are experiencing by giving them the incredible gifts donated to us from Stitchin' for Kids.”

"We love the Stitchin' for Kids donations because they are not only fun but useful for the patients as well. The donations are always made with such care and intention and have a purpose for each of the kids receiving it.  It gives us all such pleasure to give out donations that we know are going to not only bring a huge smile to a kid, but also serve them a purpose.  Whether it is helping a kid be more relaxed and focused with a 'stress snake', or helping soothe a baby with a 'crinkle', to having distractions during procedures with help from a beautiful doll or a toy car racing in its own track.  Plus the fact that your group is always so receptive to the needs of our patients and what is best for them. We always look forward to the time of your visits so we can shower the kids with all of your wonderful gifs.  For all of these things and more, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

“We love all of your donations including dolls with handmade wardrobes, baby dolls with blankets and accessories, handmade quilts, stuffed snakes and Hot Wheels totes to mention a few.  Each item is thoughtfully designed and made of high quality and interesting fabric. Families are touched when they receive a gift from your group.  Parents appreciate that someone in the community cared enough to spend time and energy to make something special for their child during a challenging time in their lives. Thank you for your generosity.”
